March 13 - Aircraft Photography Exhibit Opens
A collection of 1940s & 1950s aircraft photographs at Mexico Farms Airfield by
Brian Breighner will be on exhibit through June 30.
Regular museum admission

April 10 - Cake Walk
Ladies & Gents have your cake and eat it too!
2-4PM Participate in a cake walk around the museum to win a cake
from a selection of cakes made by local bakers. Enjoy the
chalk line music of the early 1900s and delicious cake. Advance
ticket purchase required. Benefits National Road exhibit.

May 1 - Kentucky Derby Luncheon
Experience derby music program
12-2PM and foods. Wear your best hat for the promenade around the
museum and the hat judging. Advance ticket purchase required.

 

MUSEUM ADVENTURES

Museum Adventures are themed Saturday programs from 10:30-12:00
for children ages 7-12, which include a craft, game, and refreshments.
The programs are free, however reservations are required due to
limited space.   Reservations are made by contacting the Queen City
Transportation Museum at 301-777-1776.

Jan. 30 - Sleigh Party
make a wooden sleigh and play a game.

Feb. 6 - The Great Bear Hunt
Hear the story of the first Teddy Bear, bear craft
and go on a scavenger hunt for bears in the museum.

Feb. 20 - Puppet Party
Make a puppet and put on a puppet show.

Feb. 27 - Wagon-Ho!
Make a covered wagon and go on a
transportation scavenger hunt in the museum.

Mar. 6 - Up, Up, & Away
Make hot air balloons and airplanes.

Mar. 13 - Row, row, row, your boat!
Make boats and participate in a boat race

 

MUSEUM ADVENTURE CAMPS
Advance registration required.  Limited enrollment.

Upstairs-Downstairs
For students finished third & fourth grade will be offered June 22-24 from 10-2pm at
the Gordon-Roberts House.  Participants will discover how a family and their servants of
the late 1800s lived, worked, and played.  Camp includes social customs and traditions, sewing
(boys work with leather), cooking, a day in a one-room school, and hosting a social for parents.

French & Indian War
For students finished fourth & fifth grade will be offered June 29-July 1 from 10-2pm
at the Gordon-Roberts House.  Participants will learn about Allegany County's role in the war.
Campers will explore the era through settler and native american crafts, re-enactors, foods,
games, and a field trip.

Pioneer Life
For students finished third & fourt grade will be offered Aug.3-5 from 10-2pm at the Queen City Transportation Museum. Participants will explore the westward movement through Allegany County. Campers will build a miniatrue log cabin, Conestoga Wagon, cook, games, and more.
